Marquisette or Knitted Lining?

Both textiles are suitable for lining bras: cups and basque. These are specific textiles that are well known in the lingerie sector.

La Marquisette

Thin and soft, marquisette is a lining specially designed for bras.

This warp-and-weft fabric is 100% and is stable and resistant (square fibre mesh, so extremely stable). It is specially used for lining the cups, entresein and basque of bras.

The advantage of the marquisette is that it preserves the transparency of the lace while guaranteeing the stability, the non-deformation of the work and therefore the maintenance.

The Knit Lining

There is another alternative for lining bras: lining mesh.

Compared to marquisette, the fibre mesh is not square. So for purists, it's not marquisette.

There are 2 types: stable or with mechanical stretch

  • Of the stable type, the mechanical stretch is very limited or non-existent for certain shades or baths - it is a stabiliser like marquisette.
  • The mechanical stretch type has a mechanical stretch of around 10-15%, which makes it more comfortable (at the expense of less hold compared to the marquisette). The reference offered on the site, on the other hand, is 100%, which is stable in the right direction.

The stable lining knit can be used to line the cups, underbust panels and basques of your bras, such as the marquisette.

Lining knit with mechanical stretch is suitable for small and medium cups, but is not recommended for lining the between-breast and basque areas.

In general the choice of colours available is greater than for marquisette.
