Sewing lingerie: our best "friends"!

There are 2 main things you should always have with you; besides your sewing machine (MAC) and small sewing kit ... of course.

I am not in the habit of pushing consumption and I always advise to start simply with your sewing machine without superfluous material. For my part, with a sewing machine (no need for an advanced machine, adapted needles, polyester thread, scissors, pins and you have all the material you need to sew lingerie; without forgetting the adapted supplies (but that's another story isn't it!)

Lingerie sewing does not necessarily require very specific material, unless you want to start industrialising collections, ... But that's another story.

It's up to each of you to experiment, to test and finally choose the method and accessories that will suit you best. I always say: there are different ways to get to Rome - one can oppose but I prefer to put traditional methods and industrial methods.

So to get back to the subject of this post: our best friends...

The iron

Sewing means ironing: your elastic straps and polyamide fabrics will be like new again. You can also shape your bra cups when assembling the pieces, .... The iron is the ideal tool.

Depending on the type of iron you have, use a damp cloth to protect fabrics such as silk, polyamide, polyester and lace. I always put a cloth between my iron and fragile textiles. For elastics, don't worry, iron directly with your iron.

Remarks: The elastics delivered by the manufacturers are sometimes marked by the type of packaging (roll or pack) and this whatever the origin (yes, whatever the origin ... we must never forget that they are the result of a production tool which has its own settings, and settings ...).

Stretch type machine needles

Use the right needles for the textiles. For stretch fabrics, use stretch needles (or jersey needles for jersey) to avoid problems such as skipping stitches.

Other accessories (optional)

Example of optional equipment: rotary cutter, pellican-type trimming scissors, pliers, overlocker and sealer, etc.
