Qu'est-ce que le jersey de coton ?
Le jersey est une maille : le fil forme des boucles qui s'entrecroisent, ce qui rend le tissu souple, doux au toucher et naturellement respirant. C'est le tissu le plus utilisé pour coudre des sous-vêtements. Selon sa composition, il est peu extensible (100 % coton) ou nettement plus élastique quand on y ajoute de l'élasthanne.
Jersey stretch ou jersey 100 % coton : lequel choisir ?

Le jersey stretch s'étire et revient en place : il convient aux pièces près du corps. Le jersey 100 % coton ne contient pas d'élasthanne, son extension est limitée : c'est le choix des fonds de culotte, doux et respirants. Pour comprendre ce qui rend un tissu extensible, lisez qu'est-ce qu'un tissu stretch.
Quelle quantité commander ?
Nos jerseys sont vendus par longueur de 10 cm : pour 1 mètre, commandez 10 unités. Deux unités suffisent pour couper plusieurs fonds de culotte. Pour une culotte entière, un boxer ou un t-shirt, reportez-vous au métrage indiqué sur le livret de votre patron.
Que coudre avec du jersey de coton ?
- Culottes et slips : le jersey stretch, seul ou associé à de la dentelle. Pour choisir, voyez quel tissu pour la culotte FIRST.
- Boxers et sous-vêtements homme : le jersey stretch, présent aussi dans les tissus homme ; conseils dans quel tissu pour un boxer homme.
- Fonds de culotte : le jersey 100 % coton.
- Nuisettes, shorts de pyjama, t-shirts : l'un ou l'autre selon l'aisance voulue.
