Can't you think of a way to make lingerie without elastic? They are very important.
But how do I recognise them? Which one should I choose? For which application?
It's true that it's a bit confusing (a lot at first, especially when you're a beginner). There are many different types. You can get lost!

The different types of elastic bands

Have fun recognising them, look in shops, haberdashers, ... Look at the lingerie pieces on sale, ... This is one of the best exercises I can advise you: be curious.
How do I choose elastic bands?
Which rubber band will I use for my designs?
The choice will be made according to different criteria:
- nature of your project: bra, panties, swimming costume ...
- the maintenance sought Consider the same notion of weight + elastane content for a more or less important rebound. For the same type of elastic, the wider it is, the greater the rebound.. The greater the effort, the wider the elastic should be.
- the desired aesthetic
Never forget these three criteria before you start.
The choice of elastics will also allow you to determine the sewing margins, to adapt the assembly range if necessary...
Council:
Determine which rubber bands you are going to use before you start cutting, sewing, ...
The following diagrams are a guide to the placement of rubber bands according to their type and width. If you are just starting out they will help you; they are easy to use.
As mentioned before, take a look at the lingerie pieces on sale in the shops. You will see them differently... The possibilities are endless!
Once again, nothing is set in stone
Test it and have fun!
